Building a Custom Home in Dallas
We build ground-up custom homes on infill lots in central Dallas, in established neighborhoods across the suburbs, and on acreage parcels where lot prep itself runs a meaningful share of the project. Site evaluation, foundation, framing, mechanicals, and finishes all run under one team.
Bringing us in before you close on a lot is the single most useful thing we can do. We walk the property, flag what affects design and cost, and tell you what it would actually take to build there. By the time you have the keys to the lot, you already have a clear written contract on the home.

What's Included

Lot Evaluation Before Purchase
We walk lots with prospective buyers before close to flag what affects cost or design: slope, soil bearing, utility access, setbacks, and tree-protection requirements. The walk costs nothing and usually saves real money later.

Design and Engineering
Working from your plans, your architect, or a Fin Home signature plan adapted to your lot. Engineering, energy calcs, and permit-ready drawings get produced or coordinated in-house so the construction documents and the budget stay tied to each other.

Site Work and Foundation
Survey, grading, utility tie-ins (or well and septic when city service is not in reach), pad prep, and the foundation pour. Slab, pier-and-beam, or hybrid systems get spec'd to the soil and the design, and inspected before any framing goes up.

Framing and Mechanicals
Structural framing, roof framing, plumbing rough-in, HVAC, and electrical home runs all get sequenced together. Pressure tests, blower-door tests where applicable, and inspections happen at the right stages so finish work lands on top of verified systems.

Finishes and Interior
Cabinetry, flooring, tile, paint, trim, and fixtures get sourced and installed by the same coordinated crew that ran the framing. Allowances are written into the contract per category so the spec is unambiguous about what is included.

Punchlist and Warranty
Final walkthrough with you on site, a written punchlist, items closed out, then the warranty handoff. 1 year on all work, 2 on systems, 10 on structural, written into every contract.

Custom Build Questions, Answered
Do you build on lots I have not bought yet?
Yes. Walking the lot before you close is the single most useful thing we can do. Slope, soil, access, setbacks, and tree-protection all affect what the home can be and what it costs to build.
How long does a custom home take?
Most Dallas-area new builds run 10 to 16 months from break-ground to closeout, depending on square footage, finish tier, and material lead times. You'll have a written schedule before construction begins.
What does a Dallas custom build cost per square foot?
Real numbers depend on the lot, the spec, and the finish tier. Our DFW home building cost guide walks through the actual per-square-foot ranges we see in 2026.
Can you work with my architect or my own plans?
Yes. We build from architect-supplied plans, plans you already own, builder-of-record arrangements, or a Fin Home signature plan adapted to your lot.
How does construction financing work?
Most Dallas clients use a construction-to-permanent loan that funds the build in draws and converts to a regular mortgage at move-in. The breakdown lives on our financing page.
