Meet the Owner

Hi, I'm Erik Finholm.

I built my first house from the ground up in 2006. I wasn't trying to start a company back then, I just wanted to see if I could take a home all the way from foundation to finishes and do it well. That first build set the standard I've held to ever since.

In the years after, I spent my time on remodels and new builds, learning something from every project and getting to know the tradespeople and suppliers I still rely on today. In 2018 I started Fin Home Custom Contracting to do things my own way: real craftsmanship paired with a process that's honest and easy for homeowners to be part of.

From One Home to a Trusted Builder

2006

First Homes

After years of working as a contractor, Erik took on his biggest challenge yet: building his very first home from the ground up. It wasn't about launching a company or chasing recognition. It was about proving to himself that he could pull every piece of the process together, foundation to finishes. That first home set the values Fin Home is still built on today: uncompromising craftsmanship, attention to detail, and pride in a job done right.

2010s

Growing Through Experience

Through the following decade, Erik poured his energy into remodels and new builds. These years weren't just about completing jobs. They were about sharpening skills, solving problems on real sites, and building relationships with the trades and suppliers who would later become the backbone of Fin Home. From small remodels to complex custom homes, Erik developed the knowledge, network, and reputation that would carry the company forward.

2018

Fin Home is Founded

By 2018, those years of experience crystallized into something bigger: the official launch of Fin Home Custom Contracting. Erik set out with a clear mission, to combine top-tier craftsmanship with a client-first approach that made the building process smooth and transparent. Fin Home became a trusted name for DFW homeowners who wanted quality they could see and service they could count on.

2020

Expanding to Possum Kingdom

As the reputation grew, opportunities stretched beyond the metroplex. In 2020 the team took on its first projects at Possum Kingdom Lake, designing and building luxury homes tailored to lakeside living. These homes weren't four walls and a roof. They were about lifestyle: capturing the views, the functionality of outdoor spaces, and the comfort of modern luxury. The expansion blended DFW roots with a broader vision.

Today

Rooted in Trust, Building the Future

Today Fin Home stands as a full-service builder and remodeler trusted by families across DFW and Possum Kingdom. From intimate remodels to multi-million-dollar custom homes, every project is approached with the same dedication to quality, transparency, and care. What started with a single contractor has grown into a company known for craftsmanship, consistency, and community. The story is still being written with every home we build.
